38 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How far along: 38 weeks.....I think it's time to start freaking out!

Size of baby: 6 1/3 pounds and 19 1/2 inches. At the beginning of this pregnancy I would have bet money this would be a 9 pound baby, but now I'm thinking it might be our smallest. Of course, I thought Cru was going to be small. Who knows!
Total weight gain: 30 pounds.....I lost another three pounds this week.....the doctor actually asked me if I was still eating because I haven't gained weight in weeks. Yes, it's just been this darn stomach stuff that hit our house yet again. GO AWAY AND STAY AWAY!!!
Maternity clothes: Both still. I have no idea how though with how big my belly has gotten over the past couple weeks. People's comments have went from, "You're belly's so small!" to "You look like you're about to hatch!" Hell yeah, I look like that, I'm a week away!
Gender: I've waited 9 months to find out, which has been no big deal until now....the suspense is killing me!!!
Movement: Still a kickin' but man it's uncomfortable. I can't imagine how he/she must feel inside.
Sleep: Same ol' same ol'
Symptoms: Typical 38 week pregnancy stuff
What I miss: More like what I'm going to miss....today was my last regular ob appt, which is normally followed up with breakfast at McDonald's with the kids. Well, the weather was terrible and school was canceled, so my mom came and watched the kids during my appt, which was nice, but that meant no breakfast or play time. So, I brought breakfast to them! I'm really going to miss that special time with them.

Cravings: Since I finally have my appetite back after being sick, just about anything sounds delish.
Best moment of the week: Any extra quality time spent as a family.
What I'm looking forward to: Seeing Reese and Cru's reaction to their new little brother or sister!

I haven't blogged in a few days since we've been sick again (or taken any pictures). Plus, the hustle and bustle of our lives lately has been a little too hectic to keep up with......but here's a little update.

Reese has a lot going on in her little 4 year old life. She's full of baby names these days....she pays way too much attention to our conversations when we think she isn't. She spits out a new name about every other sentence. I need to document more, but so far, Taylor Swift Poofy Coconut is a favorite. And as she was going downstairs to bed tonight, she yelled up at Chet, "Hey Dad! Do you like the name Justin Beaver?" How does she know about Justin Bieber???

She's got a big day at school this week - grandparent day! And besides becoming a big sister next week, she's going to be the little homecoming princess. What a week for that to happen, but what an honor for her.

Cru is still doing fabulous in his new room and big boy bed. I am literally shocked at how well he's adjusted. Thank you, Bubba! I did manage to get some more stuff up on the walls.

The shelves are bare, but I'm happy with how they turned out.

I made a trip to Wichita this weekend and purchased the last of what we needed for the baby. I still need to get the carseat cleaned and the bedding has yet to arrive, but other than that, if the little one wants to come early, it can!

Chet's busy hours have started, which adds to our craziness, but it's part of his profession and we take it one day at a time.

As for myself, my head is spinning, but I also feel somewhat calm. I feel like Reese and Cru are situated in their new rooms, which is what I had hoped for, and the baby's room is as ready as it's gonna be. I decided to make Reese's homecoming dress, which I did. Then proceeded to take it all apart and make another one. I finished the second one today, and I absolutely love it. I took every piece of food out of our cabinets today and trashed almost all of it. It felt good. My bag is packed, for the most part. I'll need to make one last trip to the grocery store this weekend, but really all that's left on my to-do list is get a pedicure :)

See, crazy chaos! But really, did I expect time to stand still just because we're having another baby?

All Star

When it came time to clean out Cru's closet and move everything into his new room, for some reason, I thought it would be no big deal. Boy, was I wrong! From top to bottom, every corner of his closet was crammed.

It's amazing how fast crap multiplies without you even realizing it.

Which was a huge part of the problem, but so was this....

Just as I'd get one thing done, these two were ripping apart another.

At the end of day one, I had made very little progress....

His new room looked like this.....

and his old room looked like this.....

But his new closet did go from this.....

to this!

After a few more days of sorting, trashing, and organizing, the room was finally ready for his new bed.

Chet's mom found his comforter last summer at a garage sale, and it's perfect!

With all her excitement, you'd thought this was her new room.

Once the bed was moved in, I finished up with what decor I had (a couple walls are still lacking and I've also got quite a few pictures I'd like to incorporate, but I'm not too worried about all that right now).

So, when you walk in the door, this is what you see....

Across from that wall, is this wall.....

I like the open space, but also if he needs another bookshelf, I think it would look really nice under his name.

And this is the wall across from his bed.....

See what I mean....above the cube shelf and his chair are really bare. I'll figure something out sometime.

And since all was ready last night, Chet said why not just have him sleep in there.....I almost forgot about that part.

So we did! All four (almost 5) of us, tucked him in, said our prayers, and shut the door only to hear it open 2 seconds later. I just turned away and laughed. He knew Reese was still awake, and he always goes downstairs to read a book and help put her to bed, so we decided we better keep it that way.

Round 2 - Reese was in bed, Cru was back up in his bed, I barely get the door shut, and he's crying. I go back in, get him situated again, then shut the door. Here he comes again.

Round 3 - Daddy's turn. And before I could tell Chet to be more forceful, you could hear it in his voice. And it worked!

I never heard another peep from him until he woke up this morning at his normal time.

My little man is officially a big boy :( And an ALL STAR in his ALL STAR room.

37 weeks (aka: transition week!)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How far along: 37 weeks....crazy.....scary.....exciting!
Size of baby: 6 1/3 pounds and 19 inches....given our history, I'm guessing our little one is slightly larger than that :)
Total weight gain: 33 pounds....lost a pound this week....made up for it today though :)
Maternity clothes: Both
Gender: ???
Movement: Definitely slowing down and becoming more and more painful....there's no room!!!
Sleep: I think I probably get around 3-4 hours of good sleep a night. Sad thing is that'll seem like heaven in a couple weeks.
Symptoms: Usual stuff at 37 weeks.
What I miss: My old body, but not my old boobs :)
Cravings: Besides candy, Mexican food and soups. I have never been a soup person (I was also never a mashed potato or broccoli person either until I was pregnant), but lately I've made soups several times a week; I can't get enough.
Best moment of the week: Besides busy season starting for Chet, our days, nights, and weekends have been packed, so anytime spent as a family is precious. I just want to cherish this time with the kids as much as possible.
What I'm looking forward to: Meeting this new little one! I'm so ready to finally find out the gender!!!! My heart melts thinking about that surprise; there's nothing like it.

Although the biggest transition is coming in a couple weeks, this week feels like the transition before the transition....especially for this little guy.

Big things are in his future....

Cru's new bed was delivered today, which means his new room is basically done except for some decor (I'll be posting pictures soon), so let the fun begin. Once he's officially "moved in", I'll be able to clean out and organize the rest of the nursery. The baby has no clothes, but I have washed all sheets, blankets, burp rags, etc...still no bedding though :( And I think I've got my final list made, so I foresee the kids and I making a trip to Wichita this week....I'm ready just to GET IT ALL DONE! I want next week to be as relaxing as possible....if that is possible.

Lord help us during this transition week!

If you build it, they will be happy

I wanted to do something fun with the kids before the baby arrives, and since we are quickly running out of weekends (only two more left!), I suggested to Chet we take them to Build-A-Bear this weekend. Reese was beyond excited....stuffed animals are her thing! She has a gazillion trillion of them, and plays with EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Before we headed out of town, Chet went to wheel and deal on a big boy bed for Cru, so the kids and I passed the time by dancing to You-Tube videos.

Onto the good stuff.....we'd been talking about our trip all week, actually more like threatening Reese with it.....you do whatcha gotta do, right? So, she had decided long before we got there that she wanted to build a cat. Cru had no idea what was going on, but picked out a puppy right away.

He actually kept throwing it on the floor because he wanted the dog that was on display already stuffed.

Let the stuffing begin!

Testing out its softness.

Blessing the heart and making a wish.

Cru's turn!

He's not quite the old pro Reese has become....

but he had no problem figuring it all out.

He waited so patiently....such a big boy.

I think Daddy had the most fun of everyone when it came time to pick out clothes.....

no wonder Cru's puppy ended up looking like this....t-shirt and boxers, that's it!

Reese spent FOREVER picking out an outfit and finally settled on a bridal gown.

The newest members of our family are a kitty named Poofy Coconut and a puppy named Ruff.

It was a great family outing despite Poofy Coconut losing her veil somewhere in the mall.

Before heading home, we made a few more stops, and I thought for sure (and hoped) it would be a quiet ride home.....

uhh, no.

Just goes to show, if you build it, they will BE HAPPY! For a long time!

That's not such a bad thing though.
