Background

I haven't taken any photography classes or really read any books on it, but I'm guessing one of the first things a photographer learns is to pay attention to what's in the background. This is something I need a lot of work on; I simply do not pay attention to it....until after the picture is taken.

Case and point(s): the other day we spent the entire morning at the park, and yes, I took lots (and lots) of pictures, and I'm sure I'll share them sometime, but right now I want to share a couple pictures that are all about what's in the background.

Not just a boy in the background swinging on his belly, but his face right smack dab in the middle of the triangle of Reese's swing. And what makes it even better, his bloody nose. (If you can't see it, click on the picture to make it bigger). And I don't mean that the way it sounds. This poor boy had a bloody nose the entire time he was playing with us, so the fact that his mom had been wiping and wiping and it was bleeding once again just made it. Maybe you had to be there to understand.

Now check out the other little boy in the background of this picture....LOL! Seriously, I don't think I could have captured anything like this if I actually tried.

So, you see what I mean? I don't pay attention.....but sometimes it makes for some of the most memorable photographs of the day.

Huntin' with the neighbors

Some of our neighborhood friends had an Easter egg hunt this past weekend for all the little kiddos.

Reese was ready.

She's off!

These three (Mallorie, Carter, and Reese) were on a mission.

All the hunters...not sure what upset Cru.

I think she had fun!

Cru didn't do much hunting, but he sure did enjoy the cookies.

He was even nice enough to share with his buddy, Asher.

He got into Sissy's bucket, and of course thought the eggs were balls.

Daddy, we sure would like one of these!

We look forward to some more huntin' this weekend!

On her way

As I type this, Aunty Chancey is on her way to Florida. No, she's not visiting Cason for the weekend, she's moving there! She's got more courage than I have.

We are sad she will be so far away, but we are so excited for her to embark on this new adventure. And how cool will it be to go visit!

We love you, Aunty Chancey! Drive safe, call us any time and all the time, and please don't rub it in too much that you are only steps away from the beach.

Terrific Tuesday

Many of you are probably in agreement with me that it's been a long winter. That's why we LOVE days like today! The end is near, except maybe not tomorrow since they are calling for a chance of snow. It's about holding onto what's in front of you, remember? And today is definitely worth holding onto.

We ran several errands this morning, then after lunch the kiddos entertained some special guests - Chet's grandpa and grandma, Dale and Norma, and Aunty Chancey.

After our guests left, Cru went down for a nap and Reese and I took advantage of the sunshine!

Coy needs a pedi before spring officially gets here!

Cru's nap didn't last as long as Reese and I would have liked (usually happens when he goes down late, I don't get it). No problem though, we went out for a walk, and it was wonderful!

As I fixed supper, Reese played in the backyard and Cru watched....on his tippy toes. He's always stood like this.

One guess as to what we did after supper.

Back outside!

It shouldn't be surprising that Cru's favorite word is Coy.

These two are going to be great buddies.

While Cru and Coy played, Reese practiced her letters.

Backwards, but I was impressed.

It was 8:00 (our normal bathtime, actually a little past), but it was still nice outside, so we took one last stroll down the street. Pardon the quality, took this with my phone.

To end this terrific day, Chet and I watched a fantastic movie. Great story, very inspirational.

He's going to make a great husband someday

A little sidenote: Cru is officially on his way to walking. He stands up and looks at you with the biggest here-I-come-grin. He makes it about 3 steps before he loses his balance, it's like his feet just can't keep up with how fast he actually wants to go. He's got no fear, which scares the crap out of me!

29 and holding

Today I turned 29! Wow! I've never been one to have a problem turning another year older, except maybe when I turned 25, but I think I got over it pretty fast. But 29, that's a tougher one to swallow. I had a great day though.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday calls, texts, and emails.

Thanks to my parents for surprising me with this fabulous new mixer. I've only ever owned cheap hand mixers so this is quite the treat. Can't decide what to make first.

And thanks for taking us all out for yummy Mexican food!

Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-laws for this gorgeous cross necklace and bracelet....I love them! (please excuse my big cheese grin and wonna-be-model-like pose....too many margaritas) But seriously, I love them!

As the day comes to an end, I'm thinking yes, I am 29 and holding, but not holding onto the age. I'm holding onto what's right in front of me.

It's exhausting and trying (very, very trying lately), but it's what my life is all about.

I'm holding onto those moments that really matter, letting go of the ones that don't, and cherishing all that I've been given.

I heart

I heart flowers!

Some people think they are a waste of money.....this beauty, a waste of money....not to me.

I also heart my husband for sending me flowers. He's been doing this since our first month together, nearly nine years ago.

You guessed it, I heart yellow roses. They are my absolute favorite.

They are always so bright and cheerful.

Today's birthday bouquet had these gorgeous purple flowers mixed in....they were so cute, I just wanted to eat them up.

You wonna know what else I heart? My camera! I am completely obsessed. So while Cru was napping and Reese was with Grandma, I snapped

and snapped

and snapped.

I can't help it!

The camera just takes over.

Even though I still have no idea what I'm doing, I get wrapped up in playing with the settings and end up taking picture after picture....sorry.

My camera also captured Mr. Jumparoo Monkey hearting the flowers too.
