Take me out to the ball game

Last night, Reese, Cru, and I went with Grandma and Grandpa to watch Uncle Ty's team play for the region championship (Daddy had men's night at the golf course).

It was a beautiful evening for a ball game and a beautiful evening for a championship victory....way to go Broncos!

Cru enjoyed everyone's company.

And even managed to catch some zzz's.

As I was posting this blog, Cru was next to me in his jumparoo just a bouncin' and POOPIN'!

"She's like a totally different person."

That is what Reese's dance teacher said to me today. My thought as I watched her, "That's my girl! The past two weeks she's been a totally different person." Guess she just needed some time to warm up.

It's just been three weeks, and she's already developed so much. Watching her has been a blast, but I have to admit, my favorite part is when she runs over to me in the middle of class to give me a kiss. It's the sweetest thing ever....I wish it would last forever.

Teeth, colds, and yogurt baths?

Tooth #2 has popped thru for Cru! I'm going to try to get a better picture...he really wasn't in the mood.


Snot has been everywhere at the Buchman household for the past few days.


Reese is on the mend (hopefully), but it's just starting for Cru. He was pretty fussy this morning, so Reese tried taking him for a ride to calm him down.

It made her happy.


Not so much him though.


At least we'll be over this crud by the time we go to Colorado in a couple weeks!

Later in the day, I took Cru to his room to change his pants, and I left Reese at the kitchen table eating yogurt. I noticed it was awfully quiet...bad things usually happen when left alone with yogurt. I shouted out, "Reese, what are you doing?" Her reply, "Just giving SpongeBob a bath."

Third night's a charm

Last night, I put Cru in his bed at 11:50pm. It's 9:30am right now, and he's still sleeping!!! I didn't have to get up once with him even during the loud storm. I think he's catching on!

I am determined to get Cru sleeping in his crib. We started Friday night, it went as follows.

• 11:26pm - put him in his crib sound asleep
• 12:06am - awake and crying, held the pacifier in his mouth, went back to sleep
• 12:49am - heard screaming, ran to Cru's room, he was sound asleep. It was Reese this time. I figured it was her nose, but I think it was a bad dream. She cried and said, "I want another bite." I couldn't get her to calm down, so Chet stepped in.
• 1:03am - Cru awake, held the pacifier in his mouth and went right back to sleep.
• somewhere between then and 2:37, Reese woke up again. Chet wiped her nose and she was back to sleep.
• 2:37am - Cru awake, gave him his paci and he was out again
• 5:37am - I woke up in a panic because Cru hadn't cried in three hours. I ran into his room, I didn't think he was breathing, but as soon as I moved him around, he moved. Sigh of relief.
• 8:06am - Cru awake for the day

Not bad for the first full night.

Onto the second night.

• 11:14pm - put him in his crib sound asleep (so I thought)
• 11:17pm - screaming! Brought him back to bed with me and put him back sleep.
• 12:41am - put him in his crib sound asleep. He immediately started crying, I did not give in though. Unfortunately, he cried until 2:06am! Please don't report me to child services. Reese cried for two and half hours the first night in her crib, and we've never had problems since then.
• 2:06am - held paci in his mouth and immediately fell asleep
• 6:00am - awake, gave him his paci, and he was back out again
• 9:33am - awake for the day

It's obviously going to take some time with him, but we'll get it figured out as long as I stick to my guns. At this point, I'd rather be getting up several times a night than have him in bed with us. The joys of parenthood!

Back to reality

We're home. What a great get away. Our hotel was amazing, to say the least. We recommend it to any couple looking for romance - Chateau Avalon.

The hotel offers great services such as an amazing room service, special dessert room service, spa treatments, movies, delicious breakfast delivered to your room, and more. We had so much going on, we really didn't have time to enjoy these services as much as we would have liked so we're planning to do that next time we stay there. Yes, we're going back, may not be for a while, but we'll be back.


Chet learned a lot in his meetings, however, it wasn't all work and no play. After dinner Thursday night, we tried our luck at the casino. We both walked in with $100 bills in our pockets, and we walked out with those same $100. Chet hit 4 kings on video poker and won $120! He used that at the roulette table. He hit big at first, but his luck ran out and so did we. Our itch for Vegas is stronger than ever now!


I ran all over KC today while Chet was in meetings. I went to my favorite second-hand store, The Children's Orchard. Cru hit the jackpot there....brand new Nike's for $5.99! Can't beat that! They teased me with racks and racks of fall clothes that weren't for sale until tomorrow....are you kidding me? I still managed to find plenty.


Chet's meetings were at the T-Bones stadium today.
When I went to pick him up it brought back a lot of fun memories from last summer when Ty pitched for them. My brother has had a lot of moments in his baseball career that have made me proud, but that ranks at the top.

Back to reality, and boy were we greeted with it when we got home - a terrible cold and spit up! Good news, things went better than expected last night. The majority of the problems came from Reese and her runny nose. Cru had very little if any fussiness and slept all night until 9am this morning! Reese and Cru (and Mommy and Daddy) are so blessed to have wonderful grandparents. I don't know what we'd do without you!

Chet's business trip, my get away!

Chet and I are headed to KC in about 9 hours. He has a leadership gathering for the 20 CPAs under 40 years old, and spouses are invited! It's just an overnight get away, but a get away none the less. He'll be in meetings for about 3 hours on Thursday, then I get to join him for cocktails and dinner :) Friday, his meetings start at 8am and go all day, so I'll probably just hang out in our hotel room. Errr, maybe NOT! You better believe I'm going shopping! I've got several places on my list, but nothing too scheduled....this is my time away!

I don't worry about leaving Reese so much although, I'm sure she'll test the waters a time or two. It's Cru. Evenings are hard....he screams and screams. We've figured out the only thing he wants is me. He's got me all day, he needs me all night too? I know Grandma and Grandpa will handle it fine (they'll probably praise the Lord they only have to watch him one night), but I still worry. Thank you, thank you, thank you SO much grandparents for all your help!

These two munchkins are my life. They are the reason I get out of bed in the morning. I am going to miss them so....

I will miss Reese walking out of her room first thing in the morning, hair all crazy, and greeting me with a big hug.

We'll be back to reality before we know it (unfortunately), so I'm just going to enjoy this special time away with Chet. However, if I don't finish my notes for the grandparents and get to bed, there won't be any much-needed and much-appreciated get away for this Mom.
